My Romance

My Romance - a homebred full TB by A Fine Romance out of Macassa, by Same Direction "Lips" started out life on a hard note. His maiden mom decided quickly that motherhood was not for her, and she firmly and decisively rejected the big handsome baby. The night he was born was made even more stressful and difficult since that evening my father died of a heart attack. We bottle fed Lips, and bought him a sweet old nanny goat as a companion, and he thrived. His courage, sweet temper and kind nature made every one love him.

We sold Lips as a 2 yr old: He went on to win on the line, including at the Royal Winter Fair and then began his career as an event horse. He was advanced very rapidly, competing in CIC and CCI **'s at the age of only 6, and competing at Advanced (going double clear his first time out at Advanced) at only 7 yrs of age!

In the winter of 2006/7 a young transplanted Texan,now living in Ontario, saw the big bay TB jump. His thoughts at the time: "I have to have this horse!". Soon afterward, Lips, aka My Romance, had a new owner, a new name, South Bound, and was embarking on a new career: Show Jumper. His new owner, Martien van der Hoeven took Lips down south with him over the winter for some mileage in the jumper ring. Within a few weeks, he was in the International Grand Prix Jumper ring, not just placing but WINNING! Sothbound, aka Lips is also winning admirers, as one of only a very few full TBs competing in against mostly warmbloods. The top picture was taken at age 4. Romantic Pursuit (AFR - Rhapsodise) owned and bred by Claire Hunter, Braecrest Stables.

Claire Hunter's homebred filly by A Fine Romance out of Rhapsodize by Ascot Knight has been continuing her winning ways. She won many firsts and was end of year 2005 Grand Champion Canadian Sport Horse Weanling Filly and CSHA Grand Champion Weanling. She followed up in 2006 by continuing to dominate the yearling filly classes, including winning her class and Junior Champion Filly at the Royal Winter Fair. She ended up 2006 as Grand Champion Yearling Filly and Grand Champion Yearling, CSHA year-end. Romantic Pursuit, or "Juia" started out 2007 with a WIN at one of North America's most prestigious shows, Devon, in Devon PA. Handled by well-repected handler, Junior Johnson, Julia took home the "Blue". Her breeder and owner, Claire was naturally very pleased, especially with how her filly handled herself. Mr Johnson was also very impressed with the pretty filly and her maturity.

Romantic Pursuit took first at the prestigious Devon Horse Show, 2 yr old Thoroughbred Filly

One Fine Day (AFR - Forever Plaid) owned by Tennille Matthews, and bred by Janet and Betty Miller.

"Moxy" is a very talented young mare, who showed successfully in 2007 in the 3' 3" division, Adult Amateur, and will be showing in the 3' 6" Amateur Owner in 2008. She has started the new year with a Reserve Championship and a Championship at her first two shows.

Her owner's comment: "Moxie is a very talented girl, doing wonderfully. Needless to say, I am thrilled with my very special Fred baby!"

Marquee Romance (AFR - Jeweller's Mark)

"Handsome" certainly is. It was the first word that came to mind when he was born, and it stuck! He is a big boy, with lovely movement, very athletic, and very intelligent. He loves attention and is great to handle.

Amelia, (AFR x Hanna Floria) bred by Bernice & Larry Ball, and now owned by Chrissy van Cleef was Site Champion at her ISR/OLD NA inspection and was tied as the HIGHEST SCORING foal at the 2007 Inspections.

"Fling" is by A Fine Romance out of Gail Parker-Rogers' wonderful mare Flaire (Freiherr/Black Sky xx) pictured at age 4.

"Will" is a full TB owned and bred by Davina Beck, Sweet Clover Farm - shown here at Chagrin at age 2.

"Elliott" is a handsome 2002 TB gelding.

Viva Romance

"Viva" is a old CSHA filly, shown here at age 3. She is now competing at PreTraining level eventing and getting top placings with her 11 year old owner, Ben Nehring.

Romancing

This TB/Trakehner mare came out for her first show ever at Training level. Both she and My Romance qualified for the prestigious Training Level Championships, and Romancing finished 4th. Both were clean in both XC and Stadium!

She has gone on to be an Advanced Event horse with Penny Rowland, and is now very successful with her Young Rider owner.

Regal Romance

Regal Romance had a successful year in 2001 showing Hunter Hack with his amateur breeder/owner/rider - Champion every show and end of year Champion - competing against older and more experienced horses!

Lunar Romance

Lunar Romance, shown here as a two year old, has gone on to be a Champion Hunter.
